Discovery Education provides us with an easy way to synthesize information using their digital poster board tool we call "Board Builder". Students can create Boards using materials that come straight from Discovery while incorporating outside resources. Board Builder makes allows students to personalize their Board with different features (videos, pictures, sound effects, and text) to dazzle any audience!
Enter your DCS Google Account credentials to login
On the left-hand navigation, select the "Builder tools" option
Under Board Builder, you can view Boards you have previously created by clicking "My Boards"
Choose the "Create New Board" option for starting a brand new project.
Choose from a blank board or select a theme on the Board Builder homepage to get started.
After choosing your theme, you will be prompted to name your board and include a description.
After naming your board, you must choose a place to save your board.
In the image pictured on the left you can see that you have the ability to create folders.
You may simply save the board to "My Content" or create/choose a folder for your board to live in.
Click SAVE before getting started.
Editing your Board
Please see the video below for an overview of the Board Builder editing tools. You will find that most of the tools you'll need to create a board are located under the "Add Items" button. You will have access to four main tools:
Headline box
Text box
Media box
Attachment box
***Favorite Feature*** You and your students have the ability to search for media resources within Discovery, while working on your Board, by adding a "Media box".
Sharing your Board
Sharing Boards in Discovery is only an option for teachers unless the teacher uses the Classroom Manager tool. See this guide for creating a class for managing the content and activities your students will create and use.
